This week we present you the Ukrainian composer Evgeni Orkin, who settled down in Mannheim after his studies in the Ukraine and the Netherlands. We like his composition for solo violin very much:

Evgeni Orkin (*1977 in Lemberg) lives in Germany since 1999. He studied composition, clarinet and conducting in Kiew, Utrecht and Mannheim and was a student of Prof. Ulrich Leyendecker, Ivan Pendischuk, Prof. Ak. Yevgen Stankovich und Melvin Margolis. Evgeni Orkin is awarded for example in 2004 (Festival of the Jewish World Congress in Composition) and in 2005 (Competition of the Goethe Institute Mannheim “Schiller vs. Goethe” in best Schiller’s Setting). He is the co-founder of the “Komponistenverschwörung” (2008). As a freelance musician he works as a composer, conductor, teaches in different schools and on the Conservatory of Mannheim. He playes the 1st solo clarinet with the “Mannheim Philharmonic Orchestra”. His works are published by “Accolade”, “Are” and “Konsid”. His CD “Modern Clarinet Classics” is puplished by “Coviello Classics”.
