This week we have a composer which also created a composition competition, like us. We are happy to present you Zoltan Paulinyi:

Zoltan Paulinyi started studying music at the age of two and a half in Belo Horizonte, Brasil. His first recital as a violinist was in the Opera House of Ouro Preto when he was 8.

He got his master degree in music at University of Brasília and he got also his bachelor in physics at the Federal University of Minas Gerais State.

Awarded in two National String Competitions, he had the possibility to play with many orchestras as a soloist. Paulinyi has taken part in many recordings of brazilian early and contemporary music. As a tribute of his work he was given the Pro-Música Award by the press critics in 1998, in Minas Gerais State.

Paulinyi moved to Brasilia for the position of the first violinist of the National Theatre Orchestra, which marks the begining of his main compositional activities. In 2002, he released the CD Duo Magyar with a couple of works for 2 violins; in 2008 he released the CD Images with some of his solo and chamber music. Most of his pieces were premiered in Romania. He is the creator of the Amizade Composer Competition in 2006.
